The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

After reading the book "Captivating", I kept telling people that if there's only one book they gonna read in 2014, make it that book! But that only applies to the ladies, because the book is about women and God.

So for men, I would probably recommend them to read the one for men first. Although I have yet to read it, I've heard a lot of good comments about it! It's on the 3rd of my to-read list.

Don't ask me what's on the top of that list, because I have no idea.
*Say WHAT?!*
(Read this is a high pitched tone)

Ya. Cause Shirley mentioned that she will give me a book for Christmas, and usually it will be my priority to read what she gives first. Because in 2013, the books I received from her are definitely not randomly picked. It normally suits perfectly into the season that I'm in.

OK. I digress.

The purpose of this post is to share the other best book I've read in 2013.

The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

#1 Men alone fear of time running out
Try to imagine a life without timekeeping.

You probably can't. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There's a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calender, a time for dinner or a movie.

Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays.

Man alone measures time.

Man alone chimes the hour.

And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no creature endures.

A fear of time running out.
~ pg. 8 of The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

#2 It is never too late
"It is too late."

The old man shook his head. "It is never too late or too soon. It is when it is supposed to be."
~pg. 81 of The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

#3 Why
"There is a reason God limits our days."

"Why?"

"To make each one precious."
~ pg. 210 of The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

I think this book have indirectly change my perspective of  "time".

Especially when it comes to God.

Sometimes we prayed for something and it didn't happen "on-time" we wonder why it didn't happen at that particular moment that we wished for. And when our prayer is finally answered and we look back from there, we would see the miraculous hands of God working and His timing IS ALWAYS the "right-timing".

But the fact is if we do not measure time, then there won't be such fear/doubt.

But at the same time the awareness of the scarcity of time is so important. Without it, we might live life as how we like, neglecting the urgency to do the work for His Kingdom. (out of love towards Him and not out of obligation)

But come to think of it, the awareness of time-limit can exist without time-keeping.

Agree?

Love,
Constance
